Software Developer
Two decades in, still sweating the details.
Howdy, I’m Ryan. I’ve been at this long enough to know where the potholes are. You get the version that works the first time, and a developer who’s still around for the second.
Selected work

Boulder County Farmers Market
Two markets, one food hub, dozens of vendors. One WordPress build that keeps them all easy to update.

Colorado Dept of Agriculture
A state loan program for new and rebuilding farmers, with a custom calculator that does the math.

Hotel Maxwell Anderson
A century-old Glenwood Springs hotel with a new name, a rebrand, and a fresh site to carry it.

What I do
- 01
Custom WordPress themes
No page builders, no forty-plugin pile-up. Themes written from scratch, kept in version control, and deployed like any other software, with content management your team won’t hate.
- 02
Creative code & motion
Scroll scenes, hover states, intros people replay on purpose. Motion that gives a brand its own handwriting without melting anyone’s laptop.
- 03
Front-end engineering
Fast, accessible, and built like I’ll be the one maintaining it, because I usually am. Component-driven front ends that pull content from wherever it lives: headless WordPress, Shopify, or an API you forgot you had.
The short version
I make websites do things they probably shouldn’t, and make it look like it was easy.
I write code in Denver and run a small shop called Hey Rhino. These days I also wrangle AI: it types fast, it’s wrong with total confidence, and I can tell the difference.
Designers, agencies, and in-house teams bring me in when the design is gorgeous, the deadline is rude, and somebody just said “can it also animate?” The answer is yes. It can also load fast, work on your aunt’s phone, and not fall over when marketing pastes in a novel. They usually call again.

Got a project, a deadline, a bug that’s ruining your week, or a team that needs a steady developer?
Tell me about it. I reply to anything that isn’t a crypto pitch.
